Celebrate National Walk to Work Day with the City of Fremont,
One of America’s Top Ten Walking Cities and
The California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA)

More Than 100 People to Walk Around Lake Elizabeth

WHAT
A noontime walk to celebrate National Walk to Work Day and to promote the many health benefits of walking.  The 3rd Annual National Walk to Work Day is sponsored by Prevention Magazine and the California Podiatric Medical Association and endorsed by the US Department of Health and Human Services.  Fremont was recently named one of “America’s 2006 Top 10 Walking Cities” by Prevention Magazine and the American Podiatric Medical Association.  Fremont topped the list due to the number of residents who walked for health and who take public transportation to work.
WHERE
Beginning at the Lake Elizabeth Boat Dock and Visitors Center in Central Park in the City of Fremont off Sailway Drive.  The cross-street is Paseo Padre Parkway
WHEN
Friday, April 7th, 12 Noon – RAIN or SHINE
WHO
More than 100 City of Fremont city officials, co-workers, residents, friends and family.  Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs) will be providing walking tips and leading a group stretch.
VISUALS
Goodie-bags chockfull of t-shirts, bumper-stickers, first-aide kits, and booklets on walking will be given to the first 100 walkers.  City of Fremont officials and member DPMs of the California Podiatric Medical Association will kickoff the event with a group stretch.  The group walk is approximately 2-miles.  Signage with walking tips will be posted.
