Alameda/Contra Costa Area Podiatrist Steps Up to Directorship of Statewide Professional Board
Dr. Carolyn McAloon, DPM, FACFAS, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA) during the organization’s 95th Annual House of Delegates meeting, which took place in Anaheim in June.
A private practitioner in Castro Valley, California, Dr. McAloon is Past President of the Alameda/Contra Costa Podiatric Medical Society, for which she received CPMA’s 2004 Society President of the Year for her outstanding leadership. She is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, certified in foot surgery. Dr. McAloon earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley. She received her medical training at the California College of Podiatric Medicine (CCPM) in San Francisco where in 1997 she earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM). After receiving her DPM degree, Dr. McAloon completed a two-year surgical residency at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Healthcare System in Palo Alto, California.
Dr. McAloon is affiliated with the Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, California. From 2005 to 2007 she served as the Treasurer of the American Association of Women Podiatrists. Dr. McAloon is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Alumni & Associates of the California School of Podiatric Medicine (CSPM) @ Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, California. In addition to CPMA Dr. McAloon is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), Alameda/Contra Costa Podiatric Medical Society, American Association of Women Podiatrists, and American Diabetes Association – Professional Section.
Dr. McAloon resides in Fremont with her husband Michael Smith and their children Andrew and Megan.
