Sacramento Area Podiatrist Steps Up to President-Elect of State Association

 

Sacramento, CA—Ernest J. Hook, DPM, of Folsom, California, was tapped as President-elect of the California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA) at the organization’s 93rd Annual meeting of the House of Delegates, which took place in Anaheim, California this past June. The nearly 100-year old organization is the state’s leading professional medical society for foot and ankle specialists and represents over 1,000 doctors of podiatric medicine (DPMs) from the California-Oregon border to California's border with Mexico. 

Dr Hook recently served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the California Podiatric Medical Association.  Before being elected to the CPMA Board of Directors in 2002, Dr. Hook had previously served as President and Vice President of the Sacramento Valley Podiatric Medical Association.  During his tenure on the CPMA Board of Directors, Dr. Hook has served on a number of the Association’s committees, and has spearheaded the Association’s Shoes for Needy Children Program. As President-elect, Dr. Hook is slated to accept the CPMA Presidency in June 2006.

Dr. Hook received both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degrees from the California College of Podiatric Medicine (CCPM) in San Francisco, which is now the California School of Podiatric Medicine after its merger with Oakland’s Samuel Merritt College in 2002.  In 1983, Dr. Hook completed his surgical residency at Doctors Hospital in Santa Ana California, where he later served as Director of Podiatric Surgical Residency Training.

A Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS) and Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME), Dr. Hook is on staff at Mercy Hospital of Folsom in Folsom and Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael.  Dr. Hook has served as a consultant and expert witness to the California Board of Podiatric Medicine (BPM), the State licensing and regulatory agency for California’s doctors of podiatric medicine (DPMs).

Dr. Hook and his wife Robbie reside in Folsom with their two sons Sean and Joshua.  Their daughter JaimeRose is entering her senior year at San Diego State University.

The California Podiatric Medical Association is the professional organization for more than 1000 California doctors of podiatric medicine (DPMs).  Since 1912 CPMA has served the people of California by promoting the science and art of podiatric medicine, protecting the public health, and elevating the standards of medical education.
