In his first address to the leadership of California's podiatric medical community, Dr. Basso noted the important role podiatric medicine plays in keeping Californians on their feet --active and healthy. He pointed out the tremendous positive health benefits derived from walking, including reducing obesity, hypertension, depression, heart disease and diabetes.
Dr. Basso has been a member of CPMA for over 16 years. During that time he has made substantial contributions to the leadership of the Association, including serving as President of the Sacramento Valley Podiatric Medical Society before being elected as a Director-at-Large to the CPMA Board of Directors, on which he has also served as Secretary-Treasurer, Vice President and President-Elect, in addition to chairing a number of committees.

After completing his undergraduate work at the University of California, Davis, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in physiology, Dr. Basso earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1988 from San Francisco's California College of Podiatric Medicine (CCPM).
