Governor Signs CPMA Bill - AB 1153

On Saturday, October 14, Governor Jerry Brown signed into law the California Podiatric Medical Association’s (CPMA) bill AB 1153, which authorizes a doctor of podiatric medicine with training or experience in wound care to treat ulcers resulting from local and systemic etiologies on the leg no further proximal than the tibial tubercle.

CPMA applauds Governor Brown’s decision to sign AB 1153, which recognizes the rigorous education and training of California’s doctors of podiatric medicine and the critical care that they provide.

The members of the legislature who have worked to improve the public health and access to quality medical care for Californians should be congratulated.

The new law will take effect January 1, 2018 and will provide improved access and better care for patients throughout California.
