CPMA Walks the Talk Through the Corridors of Power in California’s Capitol

Dozens of podiatric physicians, residents, and podiatric medical students participated in the California Podiatric Medical Association’s 2018 Legislative Leadership Conference: A Day at the Legislature on April 11 in Sacramento, California.

Conference attendees heard addresses from legislative leaders and advocates during the morning briefing sessions. After enjoying a delicious buffet breakfast and lunch, doctors and students, armed with studies and facts about the critical role podiatric physicians play in California’s health care delivery system, took the brief walk to California’s beautiful, historic Capitol Building to meet with their legislative representatives and leaders in order to advocate for health care issues of great importance to the patients and practitioners of podiatric medicine, including the reinstatement of life, limb, and cost saving podiatry in Medi-Cal.

Following the day of pounding the pavement for podiatry throughout the corridors of the capitol, conference goers regrouped to mingle, relax, and share events of the day with friends, colleagues, and legislators while enjoying delicious hors d’ oeuvres and beverages during CPMA’s evening Legislative Reception.

The California Podiatric Medical Association thanks these podiatric physicians and students for taking the time away from their busy practices and hectic schedules to travel to Sacramento to advocate for their chosen profession.

CPMA also wishes to thank Rhett Foundation for the Advancement of Podiatric Medical Education for its generous support in making this year’s event possible.
