The California Podiatric Medical Association presents Essentials of Practice Management, a one-day non-CME seminar on the future of reimbursement and practice for doctors of podiatric medicine. Register now to attend the day’s educational program, and then RSVP online for the evening event, the 5th Annual NorCal One Voice, a night of dining and entertainment supporting your profession.

Proceeds help fund CPMA endowed podiatric student scholarships at the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University and the College of Podiatric Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences.

James R. Christina, DPM
Executive Director and CEO, APMA
Dr. Christina currently serves as the Executive Director and CEO of APMA. He was in private practice in Rockville, Maryland for 20 years. He was a member of the Maryland State Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners and the Podiatry Section Chair at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. In 2005, he accepted the position of Director of Scientific Affairs for the American Podiatric Medical Association. In that position he has been intimately involved in the development and implementation of quality measures related to diabetic foot care including involvement with the Physicians Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI), the Quality Alliance (AQA) and the National Quality Forum (NQF). He has developed expertise regarding the Medicare programs involving Physician Quality Reporting (PQRS) and Meaningful Use of Electronic Health Records (MU).

Harry Goldsmith, DPM, CSFAC
CEO, Codingline
Dr. Goldsmith is CEO of Codingline, a foot and ankle coding, reimbursement, and practice management internet-based information company. Dr. Goldsmith is a consultant to APMA’s Health Policy & Practice Department, as well as Director of Coding Resource Management, LLC, a coding, reimbursement, and compliance consulting service for foot/ankle specialists and third-party payers. He writes a monthly column for Podiatry Management magazine and lectures nationwide on coding and reimbursement topics.

Rebecca A. Moellmer, DPM
President, California Podiatric Medical Association
Dr. Moellmer is an Assistant Professor of Podiatric Medicine, Surgery and Biomechanics at the College of Podiatric Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA.

Debra Phairas
President, Practice & Liability Consultants, LLC
Her consulting experience includes over 1,800 practices of all sizes and specialties. Typical engagements include: practice start-ups, practice assessments, mergers, financial analysis, revenue enhancement, overhead reduction, personnel management, over 400 practice valuations, expert witness, partnership issues and recruitment support for hospitals and physician groups. She has presented seminars and lectures nationwide for state and local medical associations, management organizations and specialty societies. She was recently featured in the Medical Economics article December 25, 2015, “Top 10 Challenges Facing Physicians in 2016.”

Anthony Poggio, DPM, MS
Medicare Committee Chair and CAC Representative, CPMA
Dr. Poggio is the Carrier Advisory Committee representative to National Heritage Insurance Company as well as the Medicare liaison for the California Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Poggio has been instrumental in improving local policy language on foot and ankle issues. He is a noted speaker on both Medicare and compliance topics. He is in private practice and consults on compliance issues.
